never far behind

Today was my first day going to Assisi hospice to volunteer my services there.. Was there primarily because wai tsun, my PAE classmate dragged me along.. but anw since im am not working, i dun mind going there to volunteer my services and to do a good deed. The people there are friendly and all thanking me for coming to volunteer.. LOL! anw im considering whether i should continue to be a long term volunteer which means i will go back to the hospice at least once every week to help out in the admin aspect or jus to help in the maintainence of the hospice.

I reached there at about 11am and "saved wai tsun" from the dread of their team meetings which can last until 2 pm, eating directly into their lunch period.. That is how chiong the medical social workers there work.. They jus want to ensure that the patients get the best care they can while they spend their last days on earth.. based on this aspect alone, the people there deserve my respect! The hospice is jus beside the mount alvernia hospital, which is a well known private hospital. When I walked in for lunch at about 12, the wards are actually quite high class. All equipped with air condition and a maximium of 6 beds in each ward. This can easily meet the B class ward in the government hospitals like Singapore General hospital..

Anyway, our job for the day was to clean up the storeroom which was basically full of wheelchair and portable toilet bowls and many other unexpected stuff like a fish tank, bag of rice and cushion which we found when clearing everything out. LOL! Shirley said we would need to take at least 2 days before we could finish cleaning up the whole store room but we proved her wrong! having started at 11am, we finished cleaning the room at 330pm! woots! nice timing man.. only 2 guys cleaning some more ok.:p of course there was an unexpected downpour and we had to quickly shift all the wheelchairs into shelter lest they are spoilt. If i use all my life savings also cnt make up for the losses man.. wth lar.. its dat many wheelchairs.. LOL
